Expand your donor network

Start early and reconnecting with potential donors. Some of your previous donors may not be able to give this year. However, ask if they know someone else who could give. Tap into the electronic market using Facebook, Myspace, and LinkedIn by reconnecting with work or volunteer colleques, friends, or old schoolmates. Anyone and everyone can be a potential donor.

Update your personal fundraising page

People are more likely to give to someone they know so putting a picture up and personalizing your fundraising page with your goals and how dedicated you are to the cause helps them get motivated to give.

Share your goals and stay focused

If you have formed a team, discuss your goals and what you want to achieve with your team (i.e. money raised per team member, number of team members) and periodically review your team's progress. Share success stories with your team members.

Personal connection

People like to see what happened last year and want to be connected to the event. Email them pictures of the previous walk to share your experience with them. You can also tell people your story. Why are you involved?

Share program highlights

Many donors want to know where their money going and what it is supporting is. Give them at least one example of what programs their dollars support at ACAA.

$1000 - Provides one month's rent subsidy for 4 clients in need of emergency financial assistance
$500 - Purchases groceries to provide up to 50 clients with a nutritious meal at 3 bi-weekly "Positive Living Lunches"
$250 - Provides 10 hours of counseling to a client living with or affected by HIV/AIDS
$100 - Purchases 2000 condoms to be distributed through our outreach programs
$50 - Covers transportation expenses and 2 hours of childcare costs for one woman to access our client support services.

Thank your supporters

Write thank you notes or make phone calls to those who join your team or make pledges. Their support is genuinely appreciated and the relationship could lead to further support from them and their family or friends in the future.
